US and Allies Collaborate on Operational Technology Practices

To support critical infrastructure organizations in defending against cyber threats, the United States and six partner nations have released new cybersecurity guidance aimed at operators of operational technology (OT). The recommendations address a wide range of best practices, including isolating networks and improving system monitoring and logging.

According to the issuing agencies from the U.S., Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, poorly secured and publicly exposed OT connections are frequent targets for both low-skill attackers and highly sophisticated threat actors. These warnings are outlined in their joint publication, Secure Connectivity Principles for Operational Technology.
