Research Team Status
- John Symons, Principal Investigator, Professor of Philosophy
- David Tamez, Assistant Research Professor
- Jorge Louca, Research Scientist, University Institute of Lisbon
- Travis Loof, Research Professor, University of Alabama
Project Goals
- Develop an understanding of how social norms might change with the introduction of AI tools, and how they future changes can be forecasted
- Collect data needed to train programs in predicting norms
- These two goals serve as the beginning markers for our overall goal in developing a program that can provide potential predictions of how social norms might change as a result of AI use
Accomplishments
- Successfully held our first workshop in Forecasting the future of social norms with AI - May 2024
- The workshop brought together researchers from various disciplines (e.g. Computer Science, Communications, Philosophy, etc.) to discuss a range of questions. The insights gleaned from these discussions are going towards a whitepaper we intend to publish.
